I am in the early stages of planning/choosing the resort for our wedding.
My fiance lives in Mexico City and I live in PA.
Would love to hear any thoughts/suggestions on great resorts in this area, as I know virtually nothing about this area.
Toying with the idea of a New Year's Eve wedding (my favorite holiday)
Thanks in advance!
Melissa

Hi there! We are getting married in October in Playa Del Carmen at a Palace Resort (PlayaCar Palace)  I had a travel agent who specializes in DW's show me different properties throughout this area, and Palace resorts had the best a la carte packages for customization. Also, Colin Cowie is a poplular wedding planner and he is now planning and designing for Palace Resorts. I've also heard great things about Iberostar Resorts, not sure on their packages though. Hope this helps, I really dont think you could go wrong! Good Luck and Congrats!!

We're getting married at the Azul Sensatori in Riviera Maya. It's a gourmet all-inclusive with swim-up suites, pool butlers, 24 hour concierge service and everyone I know that's been there say they do amazing weddings and the service/staff can't be beat. Our ceremony will be on the Sky Rooftop Terrace - all the benefits of being on the beach but it's private and only our guests will be there. Plus they have cocktail hour up on the terrace and the ceremony will be webcast.

Last year we stayed at the Riu Palace just outside Playa del Carmen and the service there was great too. We saw several weddings and the only downside was that they did not have a private ceremony area. The beach and garden gazebo were both quite public and all the lookey-loo's in speedo's clamoured around to watch.

I highly suggest going thru a travel agent though - they can do all the legwork and really simplify the packages which can be overwhelming to sift thru. Good luck!
